RIM BlackBerry Pearl 3G Official: SureType and Optical Trackpad [Video]

RIM loves their optical trackpads. That’s not a bad thing, though: at least they’re sticking with what works for them. This time around, right after the official announcement of the Bold 9650, we’re seeing RIM pull the curtain off their other recently leaked handset, the BlackBerry Pearl 9100. Though, we’ve got to admit, we like the Pearl 3G brand a bit better. There’s not much we don’t already know about this bad boy, but we’ll go ahead and do a solid for Research In Motion and give you the low down on the official announcement.

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G rocks WiFi b/g, GPS, and Bluetooth, for all those connectivity issues you may have. And, as the title suggests, the Pearl 3G is going to go ahead and get that much-loved optical trackpad. Below that, you’ll see the QWERTY SureType keyboard that’s either loved or hated. There’s a 3.2MP camera on the back, which includes image stabilization and a flash. Sound familiar?

Additionally, you’ll find access to a MicroSD card slot. You’ll also have access to BlackBerry’s AppWorld, just like the 9650, BlackBerry Messenger, and all of the normal traits you’ve come to expect for a BlackBerry device. There wasn’t an announcement regarding pricing or availability with the official announcement, but since then it’s been revealed that TELUS will be launching the handset for $29.99 on a 3-year, new contract. Anyone up in Canada picking this up?
