Hello all,

If you are into mobile coupons, you should check out Yowza! It's now the third most popular app in the lifestyle section of the app store, and is currently working with Dairy Queen, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sports Authority, and a bunch of local shops and restaurants.

The brochure is available at http://www.retailsmartguys.com/Yowza.pdf.

Right now, it's super cheap for retailers to get involved. The pricing is in the brochure.

I forgot two quick comments. First, the barcodes on GripOffs are able to be read by some scanners, but the code itself can be read, manually, if necessary until the retailers get up to speed. The 2D codes referred to currently in use are about the most basic that are available. We are way behind the technology in the US. Second comment: In the article it is pointed out that "Juniper Research defines a mobile coupon as 'a coupon sent and stored on a mobile phone that can be exchanged for a rebate, a financial discount etc. at a retailer when the consumer purchases a product.' When compared to their paper cousins, mobile coupons offer a number of distinct advantages allowing the coupon issuer a direct connection between themselves and the consumer using the coupon." Our system does, indeed, offer a mobile coupon(s) (digital & paperless), but they are not "sent and stored on a mobile phone . . . " thus not meeting Jupiter's limited definition, so we would kindly suggest that in their future definition and future studies they include mobile digital coupons that are accessed from a central mobile site as mobile coupons as well.

Successful mobile advertising needs to have an immediate and personalized "call to action" resulting in instant gratification. Check out Dizgo (discounts on-the-go), a location-based mobile ad platform being tested in Boulder, CO. It allows the retailer to create self-service campaigns that create real-time demand for their products and services. Consumers use the instant discounts to influence near-term purchasing decisions. More info here: http://www.dizgo.com
