LG announced today that the massively popular LG Cookie (LG KP500) touchphone has shipped more than 10-million units since its launch in November 2008. The LG Cookie has been popular across a broad group of consumers since its debut, selling over five million units in Europe, two million in Latin America and two million in Asia. The phone has sold at a rate of over one million units every month this year and LG is expecting demand to increase approaching the holidays.
“We are pleased that the LG Cookie was able to reach the benchmark of 10-million shipments in a short period of time,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The sales record adds credence to our philosophy of studying consumer demands and offering a full touchphone that balances premium features with sleek design. LG will continue to shape the future by delivering products and technologies to satisfy the tastes and expectations of our consumers.”
LG is expecting the Cookie to continue to record steady sales like the LG Chocolate and LG Shine phones. Based on the huge success of the LG Cookie, the company plans to roll out a successor with updated features in early 2010.
