Nokia Nuron: I’m Dancin My Heart Out

That title is pulled straight from the image you’ll see at Nokia’s website for their upcoming Nokia Nuron, which is launching on T-Mobile USA this week. We figured it was fitting for the title, because, well, it goes a long way to show what Nokia is trying to accomplish with this device. It’s not meant to be the smartphone that blows your mind. It’s not meant to be some dumbphone that you pick up and throw away a week later. This is right, smack-dab in the middle. A messaging device with a full touchscreen, 3G compatibility, and a nice formfactor.

Specs wise, it has a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen, 360×640 pixels, and 16M colors. It’s working with T-Mobile USA, so if you’re on AT&T and want to pick up one of these unlocked, you’ll be out of luck in the 3G department. It supports up to 16GB from a MicroSD card slot, and has a 3.5mm audio jack for your personal headphones. It’s not the strongest device on the market: an ARM 11 434 MHz processor powers the Symbian OS Series 60 5th Edition. As we said, it’s not meant to blow your mind. But, for people who don’t want to spend a lot of money, the $69.99 on a new, 2-year contract is probably the best way to get the most for your money spent. It’s got access to Ovi Maps, which offers free navigation, and you can access applications from the Ovi Store, too.

We’ve got some good news for all of you out there that want to see a bit more on this device. We will have our review unit in on Monday, and we’ll be sure to give it the full test before we bring you our final thoughts on the handset. We’ll post pictures of the device when it arrives, and give it the proper photoshoot it deserves.
