Next Generation iPhone to be Unveiled on June 22nd

You’ve got love a company that does things in a timely, repeated fashion. It makes it a lot easier for the snooping types to get their hands on something juicy. And if you’re a fan of the iPhone (or just want to see what new device Apple is coming out with in the next couple months), then you’ll be happy to know that an announcement date has been dug up from familiar resources.

There’s no official word from Apple, but that’s not surprising. If history repeats itself, just as it looks like it is right this moment, then there won’t be any official word about the event in question until about a week ahead of the actual announcement. Apple plays it close to the vest — nothing new there. According to Modmyi, who was digging through the record books at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts in San Francisco, Apple has indeed reserved June 22nd for their own benefit. That event location should sound familiar: it’s the same place they’ve announced the previous generations of iPhone.

The only strange part of the whole thing, is the fact that June 22nd is a little late in the game for Apple. June 9th was the day Apple announced the iPhone 3G, and June 8th the day the iPhone 3GS came into the light. So, why are they scheduling this event so late in the month? That’s anyone’s guess. Maybe they’ve put the request in for the 22nd, but event planners on both sides of the table know that June 8th or 9th (or somewhere close to that) will actually be used.
