It will be available on November 28th in Alltel retail stores and at alltel.com. The slider design of the Motorola Hint includes a full QWERTY keyboard with dedicated keys for the 2 MP camera, MP3 player and Web access. The Motorola Hint puts the most frequently used features on the main screen giving easy access to e-mail, voicemail and messaging. Even with a large 2.5″ display screen, the compact 4.23 oz handset can easily slip into a pocket or purse. The phone also features high speed EVDO internet compatibility and a microSD removable memory slot that can hold up to 8 GB – perfect for fast song downloads and file storage.
Preloaded with popular applications such as Alltel Navigation powered by Telenav, XM Radio Mobile and Aricent Celltop, the Motorola Hint gives users a complete mobile experience. Threaded messaging keeps users organized while the video capture and playback helps them stay creative. The phone also comes equipped with Bluetooth capabilities, advanced voice recognition dialing, a USB high speed port and 3.5 mm headset jack.
Beginning on November 28th, Alltel Wireless will be offering customers the Motorola Hint for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. This discounted price is for new customers on two-year service agreements, as well as existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans.

The phone is not a smart phone, its like the BLITZ from Verizon, but this one looks 10X better, I’ve been on the blitz and wasn’t amazed with it. I can’t wait for my Moto Hint.

This phone is not a good phone. I’ve had 3 because of it turning off and now my third one won’t turn on. After they do a recall it’ll be a great phone because its small and great for texting.
This phone is THE BOMB! I have mine sitting on the desk in front of me and I love it to pieces!
There’s only one little problem I have. It might just be exclusive to me, but yeah. Sometimes I just totally lose the ability to send any text/picture/video messages, and then I have to turn it off and then on again, and it’s OK for a while. If anyone else has this happen–you’re not alone!

part of me is happy with this little marvel, but the other part is not…i have enjoyed it when it worked properly and spent much time perusing youtube…then suddenly, youtube is a 400 Bad Request…error…and the phone turns off every once in a while. I have had it for 8 days. =/ So as neat as it seems, there are major malfunctions…I want my youtube back!
As much as the malfunctions worry me, I loved this phone until it fell out of my pocket onto a mountain. The random reboots were a little funky, but I’ve never had it reboot during a call. It’s only done that when it’s on the internet or e-mail. Besides the reboot time is fast enough that it’s really not that big of a deal. I don’t need YouTube. I have a computer for that, but for e-mail it’s great. On top of which you don’t need to get any premium smart phone service. I would recommend this phone for someone with small fingers for the full keyboard, without the crack-berry effect.

I have had this phone for a few weeks now, and it is def. a good alternative to a smart phone especially with Alltel’s ridiculous pricing on their smart choice plans.
I have not had it freeze up on me at all, nor has it given me problems sending / receiving texts since the 2nd day (activation problems). It does however, have a small battery life. It would literally have to sit there doing nothing to last 15 days. I get about 50-60 texts per day (What i would consider a lot for a guy) and it will only go about 12 hours on a full battery.
I have the hint and LOVE it!!! I have had no issues at all with the battery life nor has my hubby. I am however on my 2nd hint. the 1st kept rebooting all the time!! So…they awitched out for me. Well…..now….it turns off when it feels like it!! It shut off and would NOT turn back on!!! I had to take out the battery! Then…..the ring vol. was REALLY low, but the setting was on high. I had to take the battery out AGAIN!!! I think I may go back to alltel and see about sending it off. I have had no issues with texts at all

omg this phone absolutly sucks!!!!!! i hate it!! it freezes and is very delayed and randomly shuts off. another thing it does is sometimes it wont send or recieve texts. if it ever has to load anything it takes forever and checking email takes at least 3-5 mins. i wouldnt suggest it. it looks nice and i was soo excited to get it but the same day i got it the problems started. when you slide it up the screen jumps!! finally they are recalling it because there were soo many complaints and problems with the phone. ive only had it a month or two and im already getting a new phone because i dont even wanna look at this one anymore!!!!
I started out really loving this phone. I knew it was a little slow but not THIS slow! It takes FOREVER to send, read, and especially delete text messages which is like all i do… Im a big texter but i cant stand waiting for texts to send. Its by far the slowest phone i’ve seen.. I love how it looks and the small size but its SO SLOW! It also shuts off every once in a while when im not even touching it. Sometimes it doesnt allow me to get text messages either and then i’ll get like 20 at a time.. I wouldnt recommend this phone until they find a way to make them faster and more reliable.
I would agree with the phone being slow. It has amazing features and a really great way to thread text messages together, but really really lacks when it comes to speed of operation. Mine also shuts off randomly. I still really love the phone though. It has the best camera I’ve seen on a phone. I use it to take pictures of friends notes and then slip it on to my mbp with blue tooth and then read them. Seriously. I also have found how to make my own ring tones which is really sweet. load them on with bluetooth.
I would really like to see an upgrade to the phone to improve the speed.

I most righteously agree that this phone sucks big time….I really loved this phone and had to have it…but the same day the problems with it powering off for no reason..slow as hell! and deleting takes forever….I am truly disappointed in motorolla….not the phone to get…..TRUST ME!!!!!
Wish I’d found this website BEFORE purchasing this phone 4 months ago. Just so you know… I just had this phone replaced (constantly sucked the battery dry) by Motorola thru Alltel (not Alltel’s responsibility) only to find out I probably got your broken phone – all replacements under warranty are “refurbished”! Take a HINT – don’t buy one.
This phone is the best! I’ve had iy for two weeks now and its GREAT! The features are the best! the screen is BIG! I have had no problems with my phone at all. except my ignorance of use, but Im getting better with it! the camera and video is the best! txting is a breeze! downloads are super fast! The quality of the display is superb! The sound is supreme! The memory is unbelieveable! Especially with the 8gig chip. There is so much to do with this phone and so much you can do with it! For those having shut down and download problems. Check with your carrier, that may be were your problem is. I had a razor that had alot of problems. I changed carriers using the same phone and the problems were gone. You think? I know………..I highly recomend this phone to anyone that is looking for a high tech, high quality, super fast and easy to use phone! Peace! Hank
I have had this phpne for under 24 hours now, but…
Pros: Semi-large screen, with decent dpi and brightness. The phone does sport some decent musical ringtones, not your typical midi-like sounds. I like the fact it has a slot for an 8gb micro-sd card. Both handsfree and ear volume can get loud, but is clear. The operating system seems robust, but only time will tell.
Cons: So far have had problems with the Alltel Celltop. After an hour on the phone with Alltel tech support, they could not figure out why I couldn’t get my Celltop to work. They advised me to return it to the store. It is slightly heavy and the screen seems a bit loose from the keyboard body.
Also the keyboard and selection buttons on the face of the phone are a bit too small for me, but I think I can manage. I would wait until this phone is free, that is all it may be worth right now.
Summary: As you can see, I have tinkered with this phone quite a bit in less than 24 hours. May be a touch of ocd. I paid $49.99 (after mail-in rebate and store discount) which is too steep for this phone. May be a lemon, but so far a 100% failure rate.
I have had this phone for less then a month and last night i received a text and it completely froze and now it will not turn on if any one could help me. It still has not come on even with taking the battery out and all it shows is the motorola symbol when i try to turn it on. NEED HELP.

cricket just got this one in recently and im getting it today and so far i have heard no complaints or anything from their company about this phone oh and all the other phone companies who do carry this phone suck major balls cricket is the most reliable and dependable out of all of them verizon, tmobile, and alltel are horrible and their plans and rates are stupid trust me you want this phone and a perfect company go to cricket haha
THIS PHONE SUCKS
i just got it in JUNE!! and after two weeks it kept jumping volumes so i would always get caught in school because i would put it on vibrate but then it would jump all the way up to high. and i kept shutting off at least 5 TIMES A DAY!

i got a new phone so of course they sent me the same shitty phone! it kept shutting off and freezing

they gave a new phone again (same one) this time it wouldnt send texts half the time but it would say message sent but when i looked in the out box it said it failed

i had to get a new phone again this time it wont let me take pics and it keeps freezing! another think is it says i have no service until i click on something so i wont get my texts unless im constantly hitting buttons
my friends with the same phone also say it sucks i know two other people with the same phone and they tell me how terrible it is all the time and say they have the same problems

You are right. This Hint sucks. You can not delete or change the icons on the screen. The programmer must have worked for Microsoft. All the normal phone control keys are listed 2 or more selections below different icons. It is the stupidist setup I have ever seen. I sent mine back and will never buy another Motorola.
this phone totally blows, i cant believe it hasn’t been recalled yet! i read some of the comments cuz i was trying to see the problems people were having because me and my friend have the same phone and they both mess up randomly all the time. it will freeze up when im trying to delete text messages sometimes and it will randomly just power off for no reason. and sometimes even power off while its on the charger. really a POS phone…DO NOT BUY

i’ve had it for about two months.. total piece of crap. it wont let me delete any of my outbox messages, and they are piling up like crazy. im at over 2000 and because of that the whole phone lags. It shuts off randomly, which im not too upset about because it turns back on in seconds. But being unable to delete my messages is really irritating. about 40% of the time my messages fail. This phone was great for the first few weeks, but now i’m ready to kill it. I am beyond irritated and extremely disappointed with Motorola. I do not suggest any one to get this phone. It’s horrible.
wow. i got this phone in may. at first i LOVED it. now, my charger wont charge it. my moms charger wont charge it.. my sis’s charger wont charge it. i recommend not getting it. the apps are sweet. texting WAS a breeze. but….like all motorola phones (my dad has one that wont charge and shuts off on him) it sucks!
it was taking me 5 minutes to send a message, and then it would say message sending failed. i would try again…same results. i wish i knew this phone was junk before i got it….im getting a new phone. because my battery life is terrible….and it wont even turn on. soo….anyone recommend the LG Rythym?

This phone is the worst phone ever the battery dies in less than one hour without calling.you can’t watch m.youtube or other videos but is video capable and it just shutdown for him self dont buy it if u get it for free well take it but be warn wait 3 weeks and you will be piss
if u set it down and it turns of its cuz the battery gets loose fold a small piece of paper and put it behind the battery (between the lid and the battery) and it’ll stop with the random shut off. for me the lag only occurs if im on web and the site hasnt finished loading. i would reccomend the phone. however i too can not use youtube on it i think you have to install flash on it
oh and as far as the battery goes u just have to know how to tune the battery. eg. only charge it when it dies and if u do charge it leave it off. avoid using the car charger unless absolutely necessary cuz the car and house charger have different voltage. and also after 300 charges it might be best to buy a new battery because after that it “is not up to motorolas standards”
I got this phone earlier this week. I thought it was a huge step up from the RAZR that I had the insurance company replace, but the battery died (pretty quickly) and now the phone won’t turn on or charge. I feel lucky because I have not loaded anything onto it because I could not get anything off of the RAZR when that phone randomly stopped working. I am not a fan of Motorola at the moment.
i do not recommend this phone. i got mine in jan. of this year and i had to get a new one in march because the keys on the top would not respond. about a month later it started to turn off by itself. it would turn itself so often that i brought it in and they gave me some update, but about 3 months ago it started turning off again by itself. and just this week my top half is becoming very loose and im thinking it will probably fall off.
THIS PHONE IS HORRIBLE.
I got this phone online from Alltel BEFORE they merged with Verizon, in February of this year.
Here is a list of my complaints, especially lately:
1. Sending texts takes a little while.
2. If you get more than one text at once, the phone freezes up and takes forever to get them.
3. Sometimes takes videos and it saves them, then later on says that the image was unable to be captured.
4. Sometimes randomly shuts off and turns on again, especially when you are doing more than one thing at a time on the phone.
5. When you press the “e”, “w”, or “n” key, the phone types in qwerty over and over into the text message box or internet subject box.
6. When you get more than 1-6 messages in your outbox, any incoming text messages are blank and you cannot see who they are from.
These are major issues, and I’m going to have to get a new phone, because Verizon can’t replace my phone (since I didn’t buy it from them and its prepaid), and there is no longer any Alltel stores in my area (they got shut down). Online Alltel won’t even let you on if you don’t have an area code that Alltel accepts.
THIS PHONE IS A LEMON. ITS A PIECE OF CRAP AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
I’m very disappointed, and if I can avoid it, I will not be buying another phone from Motorola in my LIFE. Nor will I recommend it.

It randomly shuts off, freezes, turns itself of EVERY SINGLE TIME i hit the “h” key when going through the contacts list. The phone never shows incoming calls, just new voice mails, the camera sucks.
Sending texts takes FOREVER.
I think the biggest problem as stated is the powering off on its own. not only does it drain the battery but it is so annoying when you are trying to do something.
Battery life is pretty bad, mine lasts about half a day on full battery then by night it is in the yellow. ( just from sitting there)
I have never dropped my phone, there is no cosmetic damage.
