there is a simple way to convert the music that you already have to mp3. I had to do it this way to get the music to transfer onto my 1gb. Download rhapsody if you have a pc, itunes if you have a mac. Burn the files that you want to put on your phone. In either program if you go to the settings, change the ‘import cd’ option to ‘import tracks as mp3′. As far as the ringtones go, I’m not sure how to get them on my own but if someone texts them to you, you can save it and it’ll go in2 your ringtones area of the phone. I’m not sure what format the ringtones will work under but I know it won’t work as an mp3.
i love this phone i already have pics and music along with my playlist
for those of you who seem to have so much trouble with the ZTE C79 phone when using music as a ringtone, do like someone else said, have it sent to you… I created my own ringtones with Nero wave editor and then I texted myself at my email account (yahoo) and then I just sent myself a message with an attachment back to my phone and saved it. The attachment has to be under 500kb in size or it wont push through to the phone. also if you dont know or can’t find out how to send it to yourself, it is (your number)@mymetropcs.com and BTW I just got the phone today with no manual and already know how to work it. It is a nice phone and the Fullerton, CA metroPCS store was very helpful in me getting it. It was an exchange since my old phone died on me twice, they gave me a new, different phone and i had no problems at all, just have to not walk in with an attitude and you get treated differently…
Hey you all. Stop hating the phone and MetroPCS. Yes, this phone does require a MicroSD card in order for the MP3 player to work. Go to WalMart, Target, Best Buy and pick one up. The highest price I’ve seen was $15.00 for a 2GB card and since that it all the phone will hold (read the manual and you will find that out) then that’s all you need. Now… go onto your computer and onto iTunes and insert a cd to import. Once the cd is in and ready to import, go to Edit, then to Preferences. Once there go to Import settings and change the option to MP3 format. Once you okay the change, then import your cd or cd’s. Then, you plug the USB cord into your phone and into the computer. Mine didn’t show up so I had to go to the Start Menu, then onto My Computer. Select the Removable Disk icon and it should show MYMUSIC and MYIMAGES. (DO NOT CLICK OFF) Now.. go back to the Start Menu, select My Music from the start menu and go to iTunes, then to iTunes Music… you wil see the album you imported, click on it and then drag a file from that window to the other window, the one with the MYMUSIC and MYIMAGES on it. All you have to do is drag a file from the iTunes window to the MYMUSIC folder on the other window and once you get all the files you want over to MYMUSIC, unplug the USB cord from the phone. On your phone, go to Music and Media, down to MyMusic, and there you go. Songs that you can play on the phone.
Now I’m not sure yet how to get them as ringtones for your phone or even if you can, but I’m trying to figure it out. I will repost if and when I do to help everyone out. I love the phone personally. It has great sound quality and I’ve never had a problem with MetroPCS service in the 2 years since I’ve had them. Take it east, take a deep breath, and try again with the instructions above. I hope I have helped.
thank you so much dragonfly0882 you were a great help and metro is the best i have had it since 2003 and i love it!!!!!!!!
I was wondering how to set music you have added as ringtones?
Does MetroPCS allow this? I have found a website that says there should be a playlist called “ringtones” in my music folder and that I can add songs to that playist but that folder does not exist on my phone. I even went as far as creating a folder called ringtones but that doesn’t help me since there is still no setting I can find that will allow me to set a song as my ringtone.
thanks.
This phone is a piece of shit i cant get shit to work with it. i wnt out and got a 4 gig card put songs on it and tried it in my home boi phone. it work in his but not dis piece of shit

i got lucky and found this piece of shit phone at a gas station which was a down grade from the one i origonally had. i broke my other phone and got stuck using this one. i too cant figure out for the life of me how to download music. i have a memory card and the only was i can save ringtones is if people send it to me via pix messaging i cant even use bluetooth to recieve anyhting only to send. it asks for a passcode and its not the last 4 digits of my phone number, or that 1234 crap or 0000. i wouldnt recomend this phone to anyone. it’s over rated for what it is! This shi doesnt work, its nothing but a fuckin headache!!!!!
ok so i have this phone and I have my usb cord and all i want to do is put my pictures from my phone to my computer. I don’t know what to do.
I tried to find some sort of software I could download so that my computer could work with the usb cord/phone, but after hours of online searching I got nothing.
I dont have picture messaging so i can’t just text/email it to my computer.
What am i missing here???
Does anyone know where to get free ringtones for this phone the zte c79? please email me or leave a comment de3productions@yahoo.com thank you..
Well… as far as music and memory card, format the card with your phone, if you plug the adaptor into your computer all you need to do is open up the file that says my music. If you have limewire just drag the music from there into the box that says my music and it should automatically copy it to the card. Then you just put your card into your phone, go to my music and poof, there’s your music. Took me about 20 min to figure it was this easy.
thanks chelsea for the help i was about to go crazy but where do you get the adaptor
can somebody please tell me how to download pics from my phone ZTE C79 to my computer

Pls help if anyone can.

Angel-baby35
this phone totally SUCKS…i wish i never got it. you cant even have your own made realtones on it. thats the only reason. i even went to the metropcs website and put money on the metrofunds thing to buy the realtones. and that didnt even work. it says that this model doesnt allow it. ya.. this phone is a freaking joke.
This phne is nice n all u gotta do is use bluetooth dumb as*es
This phone is garbage. they need to take it off the market and give people back there money.
haha yal are ALL stupid. Keep trying. everything the phone says it can, is completely TRUE. Fucking figure it out. DUMBASSES
Must be smarter than phone. Damn people, can’t figure it out? Maybe you need to go back to rotary home-phones “IF YOU’D LIKE TO MAKE A CALL, PLEASE HANG UP AND READ THE FUCKING MANUAL.”
Papastompy you are a FUCKING GENIOUS!!!!! I’ve had my phone for 4 hours and have mastered the ringtone problem thanks to you. How the hell did you figure that out???? I had the mp3 thing figured out after some major confusion and had completely givin up on downloading ringtones until i saw your post. I went from being sooo sorry i bought this phone to happy i did. Yes, it is a little frustrating at first but once you figure it out, the phone is ok. So for everyone that has not gotten the ringtone thing down, send your phone an email from your yahoo or hotmail!!! Attach your music file like you would a picture. Yes, it took me about 30 mins to get my text and i figured it didn’t work but then i finally got it! You have to save the message but then you can set it as your ringtone.
How do I get to download music to this phone got card and still can’t do it.
I think anyone having problems with this phone obviously did NOT read the owner’s manual, and expected this to be just like an iPhone.
Read this:
THIS IS NOT AN iPHONE.
Yes, they SHOULD tell you at the store that you need to buy a memory card, but mine didn’t and I assume no one else’s did. I got mine from Wal-Mart for $12, a 2Gig MicroSD. Put it in the phone, plug the phone to your computer, create a folder on the memory card called “MyMusic”.
Now just click and drag your music files from the cpu into that folder.
I wish this phone had photo called ID, it really should…. but other than that I like it.
I love my phone. i dropped it in a puddle and it still works as good as ever except 4 dqa few days that my cam ws out cuz it was wet on the inside but as soon as it dried out it worked fine like i said. i have a 4gb card in my phone and its not slow at all… i have alot of mp3s and ringtones dat i got FOR FREE! this phone is my baby it has my life in it… fuck who eva said its just a phone cuz its not! i love it!
oh 2 get free ringtones go 2 MYTINYPHONE.COM
pick a ringtone click on the one u want go to send 2 email put 1, ur areacode n number, @mymetropcs.com (example 19042323232@mymetropcs.com) n send it as attachment…. its really not that hard it sends wallpapers 2….
sum send sum dont dont cry ova it… i got ova 100 ringtones off of there and alot of wallpapers 2…
Mine works like a champ. For the ringtones, go to ventones.com and sign up for free. Create your ringtones from your mp3 collection. Save anywhere you want on your computer. I usually use a folder on my desktop. Now, go to your e-mail, like hotmail, or whatever you use and send the ringtone as an attachment to your metro pcs e-mail. (yournumber@metropcs.com) Works great. Or you can do the bluetooth thing. Both ways worked for me. Never had trouble with the mp3 player. Hope this helps.
Later!
Sorry about that, it should be (yournumber@mymetropcs.com)
Later!
this fuckin sucks i cant find a damn charger 4 thisz phone enywhere
I am now able to have MIDI or MP3s as ringtones saved in MY Tunes. Sent text message with attached file to mynumber@mymetropcs.com I then highlighted the attached file ( it shows up as musical notes) the chose options, use highlighted object, and you can either choose save, which will save it in the mytunes folder,(this will allow you to use it as a ringtone later if you wish) or set as ringtone, which will be a rintone right then. This works for wallpapers too. I used the website http://www.zedge.net/ for my ringtones, it’s free. downloaded them to my computer, then emailed the ringtone from my computer to the phone.
RE: microSD capacity I didn’t read the manual and installed a 4GB microSD card in this phone. Works fine! Shows and plays all the tunes on it. According to Dragonfly0882 the max capacity listed in the manual is 2GB. I’m pretty satisfied with this phone, but wish the headphone jack was standard type, not the funky tiny usb job. Scratches easily too. Good call quality though, and it does bluetooth in stereo if you have stereo bluetooth headphones.
my computer doesnt recognize my zte c79 drivers on my phone. this is a 2nd zte c79 i had, the first 1 worked beautiful then after 2 months it froze and wouldnt turn off or on just stayed at the start up screen. this new phone doesnt seem to have any drivers in it.
Let me just say; the people who can’t figure out this phone are really stupid. I’m sorry, but come on!
I really like this phone. I love the music, but although it’s made to highlight music, I think that they should’ve improved on other things also. No video, which kinda sucks. No picture ID…..that’s half the fun in taking pics on your phone! And on my other phone I could get online and just save apps and games and songs onto my phone directly. This phone doesn’t allow you to save ANYTHING from the internet on your phone! That sucks! I haven’t managed to find a way to put any more games on my phone either.
The other things I don’t really care about, but if I can’t put any more games on my phone and actually be able to enjoy it further, that will be my breaking point.
IT NEEDS MORE GAMES!!!
(((But if you don’t mind those things, this phone is awesome lol)))
ok once and for all we are going to clear the record about this phone, what you need is the following to make this phone work. a microsd card and microsd card reader. not the data cord this cord only good to recharge the phone via your computer. take your microsd card and put into your sd adapter insert it into your computer open it in your my computer file open my music file leave it open now this is VERY inportent make sure your audio files are MP3 not WMA files. wma will not work click and drag your mp3 files into my music folder. remove the microsd adapter from your card reader on your computer, remove the microssd card and put into your phone. go to my music and create a playlist from all music. it will work i just did it it will load pics very easy from your computer very easy. remember MP3 files not windows music files they will not be read in the phone only MP3 files will work.
i bought this phone for 50 bucks from a friend and i got the usb cable and everything to switch music from my computer to my phone but i need a micro card where is the cheapest you can buy one?….oh and i am soo smart i love figuring new things out on phones ill have like 50 ringtones on this bitch…i hate my old phone its a samsung my shot before that i had a kyocera and i wanted to stomp on it i threw it at the wall though
to all of you that posted how to get the free ringtones i bow down to u all!!!! i’ve had this phone for 3 months and have been paying for just the melodies which sound like crap without the words. i’ve read every thing there is i’ve tried all websites but sending the message from email worked!! thank you so much!
THIS PHONE IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! IF YOUR COMPLAING YOU MUST NOT KNOW HOW TO USE IT!!!! OR SOMEONE RIPPED YOU OFF!!!!!
So do you have to put the sd card directly into the comp to set it up or can you simply leave the card in the phone and connect to your comp with the usb? My comp is a little old and I can’t put the card into the tower. When I go to my computer, it reads that it doesn’t recognize the device plugged into the usb.Pretty please respond!!
Confused,
It doesn’t matter how you decide to put the music on, if you leave the card in or take it out.
To everyone else,
If you want rengtones all you have to do is send them threw bluetooth or send them in an email over the internet. It doesn’t matter. The phone can use anything for ringtones I just suggest leaving them 30 seconds long.
The one thing that I can’t figure out is why I can’t get my phone to work on gmail or download applications. It is like it doesn’t run j2me midlets. So if anyone can help me with that problem I would appreciate it.
I think this phone is a piece of shit I’ve had it for a month and still cant get my songs in it
Please some one know how I do to download the musics that I have in my zte phone on my pc? Do I need software?
I have followed the information on all my music, and which I now have on my phone. The problem that I’m having is I downloaded some cds to my computer so that I could put them on my phone but out of the 211 songs I only got 91 which are the ones that I uploaded on my Itunes. If you can please help me I would greatly appreciate it.
to get music on your phone you need a microsd card and a card reader that plugs into a usb port the micro sd card will come with an adaptor card that will go into your reader i go to limewire and get songs witch you download and put into a file I put mine into my playlist then go into windows media player and import whatever music you have in your playlist file plug your phone into the computer via usb cable when you see the computer aknowlege the hook up then plug your card reader in a usb port before you copy them to the phone you have to create a music folder on the media player then choose what thing your going to copy it on it is file f then copy it shoud work with no problem
MetroPCS does not allow ringtones from any source other than Metro. Metro maintains proprietary control on all ringtones in a folder called My Tunes which is different from My Music where Mp3’s from your computer can be stored. In order to get ringtones you have to access @ Metro after paying money up front to your account with Metro. Here is a little warning; you will be charged three dollars to access this account so my advice is that you download all your ringtones in one session because of this three dollar charge. Also ZTE phones will not recognize a computer unless it has an SD card with a two gig capacity or less.
Hey Dave
The way around that is to have someone bluetooth it to you that is what I do, due to the fact that anything that gets sent to me I have to forward it to my son then he bluetooths it to me that is the only way I can have it. Oh the other day i went out to get a bigger sd card and my son got an 8GB, I went to the Metro store and they told me that if I used it my phone would start acting crazy like call people at ramdom, truning off on it’s own which it already does this. I just thought it was funny don’t get an (8GB) your phone may blow up…lol
Seriously I would rather use smoke signls than any zte heap of shit – I seriously dont know why anyone buys that shit
For free ringtones, I strongly suggest you gals and gents to log onto http://www.mymyxer.com. You must remember to download each ringtone at least twice though. That would be the only thing that sucks about going about it this way but you’re guaranteed to have ringtones on your phone.
Hey ppl…this phone is a red and black Piece of Shit!!!When I first got it, I could not even download ringtones to the damn thing so I bought an SD card…still was not able to download! I think metro was blocking the free ringtones I was trying to download. I tried back a couple of months later and suprisingly it did work(Yeah LATAISHA myxer is the BOMB!!). I have now had 2 C79’s and this last one was accidently dropped in the bath tub(WOOOO HOOO)so now Ive been freed from this horrid thing called a cell phone. I bought a used, refurbed Samsung that metro discontinued in stores. This phone is supposed to be newer and has less features. Stay far away from the ZTE C79.
well i just got this phone and im wondering how to add words to t9 if you even can?
can someone please awnser this its really frustrating to text
