MetroPCS introduced ChatLINK, a Push-To-Talk feature that enables customers to quickly link up and chat with their friends and family across different networks at the same time. ChatLINK allows MetroPCS subscribers to create a network of up to 10 individuals and connect with them in walkie-talkie like discussions at the press of a button. Similar to instant messaging, subscribers are able to add contacts and view their availability with a series of presence icons indicating that they are online, offline, silent, or in do not disturb modes.

“ChatLINK is a social networking tool. It allows our subscribers to talk to groups of friends and family at the press of a button and they can invite any friend to join with any phone,” said Roger Linquist, president and CEO, MetroPCS Communications, Inc. “ChatLINK is another example of our commitment to providing innovative and fun, affordable and unlimited wireless services to our subscribers and giving them options to expand their unlimited plan.”

A ChatLINK session begins when a subscriber sends an invitation to an individual or group to join a session. When the recipient receives the invitation they simply follow the instructions to join the session and press any key to begin speaking. Subscribers can invite any domestic phone number to a ChatLINK session. MetroPCS’ allows subscribers unlimited use of ChatLINK for $5 a month, a significant value over other carriers. ChatLINK is available in both English and Spanish interfaces.
