Loading ...Just as what the previous little software updates stated, another software update is available this month with major fixes. According to the official info, Samsung Instinct users will start to receive the new updates over the air, you will be notified for the upgrade when you run the applications. In summary, the updates will fix issues on the Picture Mail, the web browser, Sprint TV and Radio, Sprint Navigation, Sprint Email, Sprint Music Store, Visual Voicemail and Mobile Sync application.
The push update over the air roll out plan is not clear though, it is up to the service provider to turn on the update notification batch by batch. Some users reported to have received the full updates, but some users reported a partial updates. See the change log below:

I get the message telling me there is an update for the radio and TV, but when I click the button to upgrade and then the button to Continue Download, the screen just sits on a blank page on the browser. Nothing downloads to the phone.

But as I said, the browser just sits there not loading anything, and then the phone shuts after sitting idle for 30 seconds.
Also, clicking refresh does nothing.
Your browser must be in phone mode and not desktop, for your update to be picked up properly by the phone.

when ever i want to watch a video from the internet i just can’t because i don’t have the ”lates flash player” BUT when i want to download the flash player i just can’t do that too. I NEED SOME HELP PLEASEEEEEE MAIL ME … THANKS
when you first get the instinct the flash player works, because mines had did. After couple of days it stopped working I needed to upgrade to better flash. Flash can’t be downloaded on the instinct, the web browser need to upgraded.
I am having the same problem, i can no longer view flash videos, and when i try to download the latest flash player on the instinct, it says cannot determine which player i need. Is there a way around this, can I download flash player off my computer with phone plugged in?

I have the instinct and my phone constantly freezes. I love this phone, but it is an annoyance. When I turn off the phone and turn it back on, any pictures that I have assigned to a caller, won’t show it will have an exclamation mark, but if I click on the contact, the picture will be there, so I have to edit and resave, but this is each time I turn the phone off. I have to cut it off constantly because of the freezing. The internet also freezes with just about every website, whether it is in phone mode or PC mode. The simplest sites freeze. Also, another feature that bugs me is the Bluetooth. On my Sanyo, whenever I wanted accessed bluetooth, I could pull up files I wanted to send. I cannot do this with my Instinct. If I get my old phone (Sanyo Katana) and access bluetooth on it, I can access all files on my Instinct from the Sanyo, but I cannot see files to send or a send option on the Instinct. The phone has so many great features, but it is really lacking. I think they released the phone too soon. I usually keep away from Samsung phones because every Samsung product I have brought to date has a problem, including 4 Samsung phones. One major problem I have with Samsung phones is freezing. I remember one Samsung phone I purchased was discontinued for this very reason (the screen kept freezing), the sales rep told me as I purchased it, and now wiht my Instinct, I am having this same problem. The other day, my Samsung 520 froze and sprint has to replace it. I’m really like the Instinct and I’m hoping Spring/Samsung will correct the many issues with this phone.

Ok, I’m on my second Instinct. This phone seems worst than the first one. This morning, I wanted to make a call from my speed dial and noticed that the number wasn’t there and that 3 of the speed dials had “No Name”. There was another number in speed dial that had a name that I had not entered into speedial, but when I looked under this person’s name it had the original number, but no the correct person. So, when I go into the “no name” ones, all information has been deleted, not only from speed dial but from my contacts.(Note: I only put about 10 numbers in speed dial and I know the order of them). I noticed that the last time the numbers sync was around 4:00 a.m. this morning, so I go onto the website and when I check the numbers on the website, my sisters info (which is one of the “no names” missing from the phone now) is listed under a business contact, her info is listed under her name on the web, but her new number which was added 2 days ago is gone. I know it was added in the correct place since we had talked. I checked a couple of others and now my numbers are all “screwed up”. I deleted all numbers from my book so that I can send them bluetooth from my other phone again. This phone vibrates every few minutes (even thought vibrate is not on). Also, I call Sprint Technical Support. They do have issues with the phone, but haven’t come across this issue. I was told that with large phonebooks sometimes there is a problem with sync. My only questions is has anyone had this problem. I don’t have to use the sync option if this is a problem, but I need to know if it is the phone or Sprint’s sync. If it is the phone, I can return it to the store before the 30-days is up. If it is the sync feature, then I won’t use it. Does anyone know? My numbers were fine yesterday prior to the overnight “sync”. (It automatically syncs).
I guess people are getting very lazy just to open a manual and read the fine lines. Why is the manufacturer shipping a manual with the phone….. for the fun of it? hmmmmmmmm

IDK about skype, but I was only able to access yahoo messenger via the web.. I googled “yahoo messenger mobile” directly from my phone and it directed me to a link, I saved it in my faves and just log in that way.
I was also able to access MSN via the web, did the same thing and it lead me to the Windows Live login which is the same.
Hopefully this info. will be helpful.
I am waiting for AIM, hopefully they will enable it at some point, soon!!!

You can use aim on this phone, go to google in classic mode and type in aim.com go to aim mobike nd just log in… i stopped using it because personally it works in the dumbest way ive ever seen so to me its pointless but if u wanna try it by all means go ahead haha… as for the media player, there is no way to update the media player through this phone or with it hooked up to the computer… the provider has to figure that out nd send it in an “air update” some of these problems im reading are ridiculous, i havent had one problem with this phone yet other than once in a while it used to freeze up on me when i first got it but since then i havent seen any problems… and btw there is a way to use the PC version of myspace on this phone, do the same on google classic nd go down to where it just says “MYSPACE” nd click on it nd log on… it may be a lil slower than mobile version but itz just because there is a lot more to load but it works just as well but one glitch it wont let u post comments for some reason but u can send messages check mail comments and friends and all that just as well… hope u guys can use any of that, and hopefully theyll update this horrible media player to 9 so we can do more with the phone, if anyone has any more questions i kno a lot about this phone now… nd no ive never read a manual haha but u can reach me at william_wyche@yahoo.com later

I have the Samsung Instinct and I would have to express my disappointment with this phone. Even with the upgrades, this phone does not meet my expectations nor does it measure up to the features was advertised to have. I have been disappointed with Sprint in the past, but usually over my invoice. At least with the invoice, I can call Sprint to get it corrected. I’m stuck with this phone for the next two years or else, I must pay quite a bit out of pocket for a new one since it won’t be an upgrade. There are good features on this phone, but it lacks so much, and the cost is ridiculous because of what it lacks. Even the internal memory is too low. What they don’t realize is that even if you can add external memory, games, applications, ringtones, etc. can only be saved to the internal memory. I have noticed that with Sprint phones, the internal memroy is getting decreasing. At one point, it increased, not it is dereasing. This really could have been a great phone, but it is a Samsung. Nothing against Samsung, but they advertise many feature on their phones and usually the devices can’t handle the features. My experience with Samsung phones is that they freeze (even to the point of having to get a brand new phone due to the fact that it can freeze and get stuck, then all info on the phone is lost and there is nothing Sprint can do, but replace the phone). My Instinct freezes constantly and not just from using the internet. So far it hasn’t frozen to the point of no return. I touch settings, it freezes. I touch text messages, it freezes, etc. It also isn’t a Windows Mobile Phone which I originally read in an advertisement that it is a Windows Mobile Phone. I’m really disappointed, but I took the chance on this phone. I do like some of it’s features though and really hope I can find some applications that can work with this phone. There aren’t many out there so far that does.

myphone freezes everytime i press the messaging. i have no clue why. and if i click the star and new mesages it freezes also. i hae no clue what todo cause even if i turn it off and on it does the same thing. i ave no clue what to do. its sooo frustrating.i need help! right away!!

When the phone freezes, I find that hitting the power button and then hitting the power button until the main screen comes back sets the phone straight again.
I’m reading this on my samsung instinct, with the browser, the one thing, that almost all phones have that this one doesn’t isa signature for text messaging!!! and the blue tooth sucks!!! all u can do is send contacts and pictures, and the freezing is annoying, but if u just click the lock button a lot it’ll unfreeze

ok so mine is freezing sometimes. the problem is that the end or back buttons don’t work depending on what i go into and the only way to get out is to start a text if thats an option and then exit from there. but say i go into the settings menu there is no way to get out of there unless i turn the phone off unless once in a while if i wait for a min or two it will exit. i am guessing its just screwed up and i need a new one. help me out if u can

I have the samsung instinct and the phone sucks …it freezes all the time …sprint made the instinct look like it was better than the i phone …please yeah right …it freezes all the time ..i send a text to a certain person nd other people get it .SPRINT gave me two new phones and they all freeze up the phone just sucks period !!.there is NO APPS to download to the phone ..i pay 100 a month for bull shyt ..its only good for gps nd the gps freezes most of the time also ….all i have to say is sprint you suck make a better instinct and DONT BUY THE SAMSUNG INSTINCT !!
