LG Cookie Fresh Announced, Hitting Europe This Month

Meet the LG Cookie Fresh (GS290). It may seem just like any other touchscreen device out there, another run-of-the-mill mid-range collection of social networking, but you’d . . . Well, actually, you’d be right. This phone isn’t meant to wow the masses. What it is meant to wow is the wallet, which, arguably, may be the most important thing to wow.

If you’ve never heard of the LG Cookie line-up of devices, don’t worry about it. You’re probably not the only one. However, we would like to point out that the original model sold more than 12 million units. That’s a lot. So, LG would obviously want to build on that success, and with that next step we’ve got the Cookie Fresh. We’ve got a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, it’s rocking what LG calls the “cartoon User Interface,” FM radio, 3.5mm headset jack, and finally the stalwart social media integration. Unfortunately, the device won’t provide you with any 3G, and the camera is of the 2MP variety.

The Cookie Fresh is going to start heading into Europe some time this month, but the exact date hasn’t been provided yet. And while you see it in a sort of lime green right now, LG promises that more colors will be available in time. LG’s also got some pretty lofty goals: they plan to sell the phone in more than 50 countries around the world by the end of the year. No word on pricing as of yet, but as soon as we hear something, we’ll pass it on.
