Huawei to launch Android phone in Q3 of 2009

Google’s Android phones will invade Asia-Pacific region next year.  Besides HTC’s Dream and Kogan Technologies’ Agora, which will hit Australia on January 29, there is another phones will be delivered in the region later next year: Huawei phone. China’s largest handset and network infrastructure provider Huawei confirmed that their first Android smartphone is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009.

Huawei is the second China company to join OHA after country’s largest operator, China Mobile and was one of the 14 companies — including Garmin International and Vodafone — who joined the Open Handset Alliance last week.

“Huawei can confirm that their first Android smartphone is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2009. Huawei’s smartphones can be ordered and developed for Australian operators based on any such requests,” the spokesperson said.
