HTC Touch Pro3 Gets Mentioned, Windows Phone 7 Debatable

There are all sorts of avenues you can go when trying to get confirmation, or even mention, of a device. One of those avenues just happens to be the XDA Developers, where a few devices have been “leaked” over the years. The situation we have on our hands right now seems to be much akin to others in the past, as a forums member has come forward after speaking with one of his contacts, and the information he’s sharing is pretty interesting.

It seems that the Touch Pro3 could be seeing the light of day this year. More accurately, if this tipster is accurate, than by the third quarter we should be seeing a smaller and thinner version of the Touch Pro2 hitting the shelves in Europe. The forum members contact is apparently the lead distributor of HTC products in Europe, so we can’t imagine that person has any misinformation about the products his company is planning on releasing.

While we won’t argue with the name, we’re wondering if the Touch Pro3 has indeed gone by another title at some point. As WMPowerUser also suggests, we believe that this unseen device certainly could be the HTC Tera, which is said to offer up a 3.0-inch WQVGA resistive touchscreen. It’s still got the slider function, and tilt, along with the physical QWERTY keyboard. However, as you can see from the image herein, it’s got the standard Windows Mobile buttons, which means, sadly, that if this device does indeed come out later this year with the guise of the Tera, it will not be seeing an upgrade to the Windows Phone 7 Series platform. You know, like that other HTC device.

i would also point out the main reason the HTC Tera would not get WP7 is due to the fact it is not a multitouch device in addition to not having the three windows buttons.

You would be absolutely correct. And, we can probably guess that the processor won’t be nearly as fast enough as Microsoft would like for their high-end devices. However, it might fit into their second chassis plan, so who knows.
