Mobile phone subscribers everywhere will now have the opportunity to strum guitar strings and play the drums to the tune of their favorite songs. Hands-On Mobile and Activision Publishing announced the availability of Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile for mobile phones. The mobile phone version of the popular console game allows players to choose drums, in addition to the guitar, as a playable instrument within the game. Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile is available today on major carriers nationwide and will be debuting in January on Android, the platform built by Google and the Open Handset Alliance.

Comprised of real-time multiplayer capabilities, players have the opportunity to battle head-to-head against others throughout the country, regardless of their mobile carrier. Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile also features MP3 quality original artist recordings, with 15 of the hottest songs available at launch. Additionally, new bonus songs will be added monthly and will also be available for multiplayer gameplay. Players can take their Guitar Hero experience beyond the phone and create profiles, download new songs and track player rankings through the game’s web companion located at: www.guitarheromobile.com/worldtour.

The game works well enough on my blackberry storm, except i can’t get song audio to work. still waiting on support…I like it with a touch screen, although i wish they had gone further and integrated support for an accelerometer. The star power trigger is too far out of the way, and only three notes? Bottom line, if you are addicted to the console version, this might be the fix you are looking for in train rides. For the rest of us? Not worth the price. 2 out of 5.
