hasn't made any difference unfortunatly. It just goes to the white screen etc then the red percentage 'upgrade 0% completedd' comes up and the update on the com says stage2lease wait etc with the percentage bar n says 5 mins. Then error 113 comes up saying not connected etc. And i have to take out battery to turn off fone again.

Anything else to try? - the activesync icon says not connected as well

The only other info i can give regarding everything is that since the fone wiping itself etc when i go into control panel/add hardware etc to check the USB i click add hardware/already connected and find that at the top of the list a 'serial cable using IrDA protocol' has got a yellow exclamtion mark next to it and when i go further it says 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)'.......don't know if that is relevant. - The cradle worked fine before and since in the corner of the fone it says USB when i connect it must still be connecting...help

Send a message via MSN to kjk
Connect direct to PC not via HUB. Try to turn off your antivirus and firewall if that's don't help than try to run upgrade from other computer.

Hi, you do not need the USB driver for this. But you do need Microsoft Active Sync 3.71. It is about 3Mb big. EMail me, and I will send it to you in reply.

I know this is a pretty old thread now, but it comes up on Google and that's how I found it... The routine using 'fixed.zip' mentioned a couple of pages back really does work - however do NOT attempt to do it using Vista... You'll get part way through the process and then it'll abort, leaving your phone unbootable and in the 'canary' screen.

If you do happen to have this happen to you - your only option seems to be to get to a Windows XP machine - install ActiveSync, and then follow the instructions for the 'fixed.zip' files mentioned earlier.

Hope that helps someone who, like me, struggled with Vista and thought their phone was broken... Once I used XP the process went super smoothly and my phone now logs onto Optus quite happily.

MUCH THANKS to everyone who contributed to this thread.
J.
