At the 2010 GSMA Mobile World Congress, Dolby Laboratories is showcasing the next version of its Dolby Mobile technology to bring 5.1 multichannel audio to mobile handsets. Dolby will also be presenting some of the latest LG handsets to feature the current Dolby Mobile technology, including the LG Mini GD880, LG’s new trendsetting model for 2010, scheduled for European release in March.
“Dolby Mobile is designed to give consumers a rich, full-impact audio experience for movies, videos, and music,” said Rolf Schmitz, Marketing Director, Mobile, Dolby Laboratories. “The next version of Dolby Mobile adds an extra dimension by including Dolby Digital Plus technology, enabling realistic surround sound for headphone playback, as well as genuine 5.1-channel surround sound playback on home entertainment setups from the mobile device via HDMI.”
