In the coming Private Sale event by Verizon Wireless, one of the invited VIP has posted his invitation card to the Gizmodo, showing its VIP members to be able to purchase the BlackBerry Storm in the private sale event from November 17 to 21. It is not clear how to get invited but one of the Gizmodo reader reply, “In order to be a member you have to be on a calling plan of $79.99 or higher AND pay your bill on time for 3 months. The catch here is that for them to see you paying $79.99 or higher you must be on one of the bundle plans if your regular calling portion does not exceed $79.99. What I mean is if you have a $39.99 minute plan, and then the data add on for unlimited use at the price of $40+ dollars, they do not consider this a plan over $79.99.”

For the rest of the Verizon Wireless subscribers, the BlackBerry Storm will most likely to be available from November 24th or November 25th this month.

I’m a current Verizon customer w/ a $39.99 plan and I got the same invite…either bc a) I signed up on the website for bb Storm updates or b) I’m out of my contract and they want me committed for a few more years…..either way the $79.99 requirement is most likely incorrect.

You cannot purchase the storm early with this invite. I got it and called its just introducing the storm. we still have to wait till the 21st. this article is way wrong.

I am in the same boat with Matt: “I’m a current Verizon customer w/ a $39.99 plan and I got the same invite…either bc a) I signed up on the website for bb Storm updates or b) I’m out of my contract and they want me committed for a few more year”

I called two local Verizon stores one said the Storm will in their store on the 17th for those who have the invite and the other said the opposite – I don’t know who to believe. I’ll just call on the 17th to see if they really have it or not.

Hi heather, thanks for the info!

The Private is a SHAM it’s nothing no more than a bad ugly attempt to get people in their stores to reduce their inventory of phones that are not moving by misleading their best customers into thinking they can walk away or pre-order the Storm. Can you say…bait and switch!?

Oh did I forget to say that the phone number they gave to call…doesn’t work, that it’s not actual Verizon employees when you do happen to get through after a couple of hours trying 1-800-723-9195 try it.

After 4 attempts to get through to Verizon Wireless to take advantange of this offer and snag a storm–guess what? No phone until Friday…imagine the chaos when this finally does open up…

One thing the rep did give me–100 free minutes/month in my updated family share plan…I’ll be watching the bill VERY carefully to make sure I was not scammed…
