AT&T ZERO Charger Stops Drawing Power While Not in Use

If you’re anything like us, you enjoy saving money. And, if a company is going to help us save some money, especially by helping us use the things we love so much (cell phones), then we’re a fan of that company’s efforts. Case in point, we have AT&T pushing out the ZERO charger, which is a standard AC wall adapter, but with one, huge feature.

Basically, if you keep your devices plugged in, it draws power. Even if you unplug your phone, laptop, or whatever else it is that you’re charging, the AC plug isn’t designed to stop drawing power out of the outlet. This is a standard trait, and while it’s trickling power out of the outlet, it’s still enough to add a nice addition to your bill every month if it goes unchecked. So, AT&T is going to try and do something about it. They’ve announced the ZERO charger, which is said to kill any “vampire draw” from the outlet. No more extraneous electricity drawn.

According to AT&T, these chargers are less costly than the chargers of today, which makes us wonder why the company is offering them as an accessory, and not having manufacturers include them in the box from the get-go. Then again, it’s not that tough to figure out, now is it? An accessory is just another way to make money, after all. The chargers aren’t for sale now, but you can head on over to AT&T’s website and request more information, which will tell you when they are.
