Siemens post some photos of testing a mobile phone prototype in their lab. This include shock, water and emperature resistant. They also test on putting the phone into the jean's pocket for several thousand times.

Dust is the enemy of all mobile phones: new devices are sprinkled with (normalized) dust for four days in the Siemens test lab. A microscope is then used to check whether dust particles have gotten in behind the display or into the keypad spaces.

The dust test is one of some 20 basic tests used to test the quality of all Siemens handsets.
