Motorola gets patent for sun-powered mobile phone

Don't worry if your cell phone's battery got drop. All you have to do is open your cell-phone screen (if you own the clamshell model) and face up to the sun. And you can continue to chat with your friend through your mobile phone.

But with one condition: your phone should be a Motorola!

Motorola has been awarded a patent for technology that will make it possible to recharge the battery of mobile phones through solar cells embedded within the liquid crystal display (LCD).

According to Antone Gonsalves of InformationWeek, the idea is not new, but Motorola claims in the patent that it has solved the problem of getting enough light to the solar cells to recharge the battery.
