Leaked as early as June this year, the Motorola E690 is a successor of E680i which use Linux OS.

Motorola is releasing its next linux smartphone, Motorola E690 in China next month. One of the chinese already got one on his hand and here are a bunch of the phone photo shots. On first glance it looks like the RAZR Z MS600 which was a slider phone released in Korea early this year, except E690 is not a slider phone. The model id E690 means it is the successor of E680i / E680g  , all these smartphone utilize Linux platform as its operating system.

The Motorola E690 is a music phone featuring a 256k colors TFT screen, 2 megapixel camera, intel cpu, SD card slot and mini USB connector. It has no keypad like E680. Text input can be done through the touch screen and stylus. Multimedia files like MP3, WMA, AAC, AMR, MP4 and 3GP are supported by the media player. There are quick access buttons at the side of E690, let you control the media playlist without extra steps.

Motorola E690 can be used in GSM Tri-band network and support GPRS data connection. The smartphone will be first available in China, while an US version is unknown. See next page for more photos.
