Today, Motorola announces its entry into the commercial off-the-shelf rugged handheld mobile computing market with the HC700-L. The first in a series, the HC700-L is designed to meet the rigorous demands of mobile workforces in a variety of industries including utility, transportation, logistics, public works, public services and manufacturing.

Part of Motorola's new HC700 family of rugged mobile computers, the HC700-L handheld features Intel's Xscale processor, a color touch-screen display, an omni-directional area imager for ID/2D barcode imaging, both WiFi and Bluetooth communications capabilities and it operates on the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. The HC700-L is designed and tested to military environmental specifications to withstand the rigors of every day use.

The HC700-L is ideal for individual field users and work teams in need of mobile data applications such as remote data base inquiries, job ticketing and field service, sales force automation, asset management and inventory management. In early 2006, Motorola will introduce additional models in the HC700 line that will offer a wide array of communications options to provide enterprise customers with numerous choices for their mobile operator service.

"With products like the HC700-L, we are leveraging decades of expertise to offer a broad portfolio of enterprise-class mobility solutions that seamlessly and securely link people, assets and critical business information and enable a truly mobile workforce," said DeFeo.
