The joint project of Motorola and Apple is nowhere to be seen at CeBIT. However, it has been announced that the cell phone will be able to receive songs via UMTS.
According to information gathered by Financial Times Deutschland, Apple is said to have called for a postponement of the presentation a few weeks before the fair started. Motorola has stated that further coordination with mobile communications providers was the reason for this sudden decision. But some insiders assume that Apple, which is not represented at CeBIT, wants to have some of the publicity for itself and thus insisted that the product be presented at a later date. Unofficially, it is also been made known that songs can not only be loaded onto the new Motorola cell phones from computers, but also purchased and downloaded via UMTS directly to the cell phones. Depending on the memory used, the cell phones are to be able to store up to 100 songs. In addition, the devices are to include Bluetooth and headsets. However, Motorola and Apple have not provided any official information.

Apparently, Motorola stepped away from its plan of presenting the iTunes cell phone it developed with Apple shortly before the fair. Visitors to the US company's CeBIT stand will find a Mac corner with a few Apple computers on which the iTunes Music Store is presented. But there is no sign of the music cell phone that had been announced several times. Motorola had informed a few journalists about the project launch at CeBIT.
