We have reported about the new Philips 655 perviously, here is the official announcement from Philips. The Philips 655 mobile phone combines a mirror display with a camera making it always easy to take self-portrait photos in favorite places.

The phone has 6MB of memory, store up to 500 phone book entries as well as up to 20 MMS and 300 SMS messages. There is a Low Light 'night' mode provided by the camera to take photos in dark places. All the photos taken can be shown as slideshows through a Plug & Play TV Link.

This exciting new phone combines an elegant clamshell design with state-of-the-art camera and audio features. Weight is only 85 grams, so the phone is a snug fit in the palm of your hand and is easy to take with you wherever you go.

Adding an exciting extra dimension is the reverse blue backlight LCD sub-display. With its reverse LCD technology this display lights the text instead of the background, creating a surprising and appealing effect as well as optimizing legibility. The main high-resolution display with 65K colors, visible when the clamshell is opened, provides brilliant full-color viewing of photos taken with the phone's integrated color camera.

Great sound experience with BeDJ
Matching the Philips 655's exciting photo viewing and sharing features is the great sound experience that it offers. With Philips' unique BeDJ recording function you can create your own sounds in a wide choice of styles, using the phone as a creative music mixing panel. You can mix up to nine tracks, choosing different instruments for each track, and varying the tempo and volume to create your own selection of 64 polyphonic ringtones, as well as the built-in choice of 64 polyphonic ringtones with 30 melodies.

Excellent sound quality
Sound quality is way ahead of what's usual for mobile phones, thanks to a superb loudspeaker designed-in at the back of the phone. That’s ideal together with the phone's handsfree function, so you take part in conference calls and share calls with a group of friends. The optional FM Radio headset provides another way to enjoy the phone's excellent sound reproduction.

Next to all these multimedia features the Philips 655 also offers a great gaming experience. The latest Infusio V2 games engine gives you access to a wide choice of downloadable color games (availability depends on operator). You can even publish your scores by SMS messages, to challenge other players and compete for prizes.

Like all the Philips mobile phones, the Philips 655 offers exceptional talk and standby times: up to 4 hours talk time and up to 400 hours - more than 16 days - standby time. The new Philips 655 mobile phone will be available from November 2004 onwards.
