First heard as early as February 2005, the Road Handy-PC S101 is finally reaching its final completion. Here are some live photos of Road Handy-PC S101.
The Road Handy-PC S101 is a clamshell Linux smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. Similar to Nokia 9300 and 9500 communicators, it features a wide LCD screen (640 x 240). Although it was announced back in February 2005 , the features seem to be on par with the latest technology. The Handy-PC S101 is a Remote Access Office Device (Road), aim to provide user a mobile office while away from the office. Other features include WiFi, quad band, Bluetooth and support GPRS/EDGE connection. Send and Receive emails with ease. Office viewer will allow you to open office documents, the specification page didn't mention editing but I'm sure it's possible. Comes to the multimedia features, the music player and a video player will fit your needs. The Road Handy-PC has a quick access buttons at the side, to let you navigate through the playlist easily. The Road Handy-PC comes in S101 and S101k models, where the later comes with some sort of encryption feature. A 2-megapixel-pixel camera is listed as optional on the spec page. Engadget stated that the S101k feature an integrated camera while the S101 does not have one. This Linux smartphone will face competition from HTC (Excalibur , Helmes ) and upcoming Palm smartphone by the time it is available. The reality is smartphones with a flip form factor are rarely a success such as the Nokia 9300 and 9500 series.
