SavaJe Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that Release 2.5 of SavaJe OS, SavaJe Technologies' Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME)-based open operating system, is now shipping to mobile handset manufacturers.

SavaJe OS includes a complete core feature set for mid to high tier handsets including telephony (3GPP compliance, multi-party calling, Supplementary Services, SIM Application Toolkit), networking (TCP/IP, WAP 2.0 with OTA provisioning support, HTTP, USB, IrDA, Bluetooth), multimedia (still and video camera, MP3/AAC audio and MPEG4/H.263 video), PIM database, Security (SSL/HTTPS, authorization, authentication, key store, certificate handling, policy files, OMA 1.0 compliant DRM), Gaming (2D and 3D graphics engines), Presence and Chat (Wireless Village compliant IM/Presence) and Synchronization (IrMC and SyncML). Applications can access the platform features using industry standard Java Community Process (JCP) APIs, supported by a worldwide ecosystem of tools, developers and content providers.

The bundled SavaJe OS applications suite provides a complete set of consumer-oriented, easy to use, integrated applications that can be easily branded by the OEM and Operator. The use of Java enables branding, themes and personalization to affect the entire user experience, even extending to over the air (OTA) downloaded applications. The suite includes the phone application, customizable handset idle screen, phone menus, SMS text and MMS picture messaging, email, multimedia music and video players, MIDI and MP3 ringtones, text, music and video caller ID features, camera and camcorder, Instant Messaging and Presence, PIM functions contacts, calendar, notes and alarms, picture viewer and editor, as well as a complete set of utilities for personalization, communications and handset management.

Manufacturers will benefit from working with SavaJes complete product comprising both the core operating system platform and the suite of applications. This enables rapid handset development and deployment. SavaJe also enables licensees to enhance the operating system themselves, and to innovate by integrating the additional software technologies of their choice.
