Trolltech today announced that the Qtopia development environment and user interface for Linux-based mobile devices is now available for Texas Instruments Incorporated's (TI) OMAP processor.
Qtopia Driving Adoption of Linux on Mobile DevicesTrolltech's award-winning Qtopia software is a complete, customizable development environment and user interface for Linux-based mobile phones and PDAs. With Qtopia, manufacturers and service providers can cost-effectively develop software while maintaining control of their own branding and user interface. Qtopia extends the flexibility and cost-savings benefits of Linux to the mobile market, serving as an alternative to proprietary software platforms such as Windows Mobile and Symbian. Last month the Qtopia Phone Edition won the prestigious LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award for "Best Embedded Solution." "Qtopia is becoming established as critical technology for enabling Linux on mobile devices," said Paul Werp, worldwide director of marketing for TI's OMAP platform.
