Russia's 3G license has been postponed to end of 2005
The issuance of licenses for third generation mobile communications networks (3G) will start at the end of 2005, Russian Communications Minister Leonid Reyman declared to journalists. Previously, it was reported that the issuance would start at the beginning of 2005. The ministry is ready to issue licenses already but its primary goal at present is the development of the second generation mobile communications in Russia's regions, Reyman stressed. For example, according to data presented by the minister, there are 84.4 mobile phones for every 100 citizens in Moscow, whereas this figure is far less in Russia's regions. |
