NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional subsidiaries today announced that subscribers committing to a two-year contract will receive an immediate 50% discount on basic monthly charges, expanding the cost savings provided under the billing plans for families and individuals - "Fami-wari MAX" and "Hitoridemo Discount" - unveiled in June. The respective plans will now be known as "Fami-wari MAX 50" and "Hitoridemo Discount 50". The original Fami-wari Max plan granted each subscriber the discount rate of the longest-subscribing family member, or a maximum of 50% if that family member had been with DoCoMo for at least 11 years. Individual subscribers using the original Hitoridemo plan were eligible for a maximum 50% discount - twice the previous rate of 25% - from the 11th year onward. DoCoMo will begin accepting Fami-wari MAX 50 and Hitoridemo Discount 50 applications from August 1, and the discounts will begin on August 22. Cancellation during the two-year contract will incur a fee of 9,975 yen. Neither discount plan is applicable to corporate subscriber contracts. The new plans may be not used in combination with Ichinen Discount, New Ichinen Discount or Hearty Discount. |
