Chinese Phone Production to Exceed Half a Billion

China is the world’s largest mobile communications market.

China is the world’s largest mobile communications market. According to information released by China's Ministry of Information Industry, mobile phone production in the country is expected to rise by nearly 17% during 2007 - to reach 560 million units.

In 2006, handsets produced in China totaled 480 million units, accounting for a 47% share of global production.

Another report said, China's cell phone chip market will hit $11.4 billion this year and $14.3 billion in 2008, driven by increasing demand for smart phones and 3G handsets in the country.
