Prior to this commercial service, NTT DoCoMo conducted a field trial of the high-speed network which NEC cooperated and supplied HSDPA infrastructure systems including node-B base stations and radio network controllers (RNC). During the trial, the performance of NEC's HSDPA systems was verified through the achievement of a maximum data download speed in the commercial HSDPA service area of 3.6Mbps and other features such as flexible and variable transmission speed control in various radio wave environments.
