Ericsson and SmarTone-Vodafone announced the operator's enhanced 3.6Mbps HSDPA full-coverage network is going live today. The Hong Kong-based mobile operator plans to further upgrade the network to a maximum speed of 14.4Mbps in 2007-2008. Douglas Li, CEO of SmarTone-Vodafone, says: "In June this year, we were the first in the world to launch a full commercial HSDPA-enabled mobile broadband service delivering true broadband speed of up to 1.8Mbps. The upgrade of our HSDPA full-coverage network to 3.6Mbps today clearly demonstrates our commitment to continuous progress. This technology leadership empowers us to bring better services to customers." Ericsson's HSDPA solution enables peak download speeds of up to 14.4Mbps. The advanced technology offers operators more than double the system capacity and shortens the response times for interactive services. |
