Three weeks after joining forces to become the biggest wireless carrier in the U.S., Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless have -- overnight -- truly become one company.
Following an after-hours makeover of 226 former AT&T Wireless locations, the company has officially launched the "new" Cingular in Colorado and throughout the U.S. Today, all customers will get the same "Cingular Experience" at any of the more than 135,000 retail locations that offer Cingular products, rate plans and other services throughout the country. Teams of Cingular employees spent last night converting 19 former AT&T Wireless company-owned stores and other retail locations across Colorado into Cingular stores -- one of the largest and fastest "makeovers" in the history of U.S. retailing. Each former AT&T Wireless store now has a full inventory of Cingular phones, accessories and signage. Last night, while the stores were closed, more than 14,000 employees across the U.S. worked on the physical transition of the stores being converted. That included replacing more than 38 million in-store point-of-purchase materials. |
