Vincent over at Slashgear got his hands on the new Palm Treo 755p and is loving it. With the 755p Palm has decided to go with their own Palm OS 5.4.9 rather than Windows Mobile. With the inclusion of Palm OS also comes their Instant Messaging application, Google Maps for Mobile, Microsoft Direct Push Technology, Bejeweled and a trial version of Mobile Voice Control. Unfortunately Palm's aging OS prevents you from working with more than one of those applications easily.
You'll be able to use it on both a Mac and PC without downloading any special software or drivers, but Mac users be warned: the Treo 755p cannot be tethered as a modem for your EV-DO connection. You can connect via Bluetooth, but you'll suffer a major loss of speed. VersaMail takes little or no effort to set up, DocumentsToGo makes viewing and editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents a breeze. Bluetooth headsets connect easily and the connection doesn't get dropped.
The three biggest things missing from the Treo 755p are lack of Wi-Fi, no stereo Bluetooth and built-in GPS. But the good outweighs the bad in this phone, you can pick one up right now for $279.99 with a 2 year contract, and you'll get $50 instant savings and an additional $100 rebate. Specifications:
