How about carry more junks with your Treo 680

Although it is not officially supported, one user in Treocentral forum has bought a 8GB Transcend Card and tried it on Treo 680. Good news is the card can be recognizes and read/write operation has no problem at all. Palm applications insalled into the card can be run as per normal. The bad news is the card info application in the Palm OS is not able to read the card summary correctly and will freeze once you have data copied to the 8GB card. You will never see the correct 8GB free space, but that is not a major issues since you still can write 8GB worth of data to it.

The Pam OS Card Export II software is working properly and letting you transfer the data into the card through the Palm USB cable.

Read more about the card here

One of the user from palminfocenter also did a trick to enable the 8GB SDHC card on Treo 700p,

UPDATE: IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found a copy of the treo 680 rom online. Coppied MMSDCard.prc and SlotDriver%3A SDIO-sdsd.prc to the ram on my treo 700p. Soft reset. Insert 8gb SDHC Card... IT WORKS. No need for a custom rom or anything

Note: I'm not sure if both of those files are required or if only one is needed, but I sure ain't complaining, because it worked on the first try!

Note 2: Never do this sort of thing without backing up first. And don't hold me responsible for anything...because it might break your device, result in serious injury, property damage or death...

We are not going to post the link here, find the link in the treocentral forum thread .. :)
