Symbian handset has became more popular in Japan. Symbian has announced that over 20 million Symbian smartphones have shipped in Japan up until the end of March 2007.

Symbian Limited, developer and licensor of Symbian OS(TM), the market-leading operating system for advanced data-enabled mobile phones known as smartphones, today released the following unaudited financial and operational figures for the quarter ended 31 March 2007.

The report said, at least 15.9m Symbian smartphones shipped by licensees in Q1 2007 - a 35.9% increase on Q1 2006 (Q1 2006 - 11.7m) and 126 million cumulative Symbian smartphone unit shipments, as of 31 March 2007.
