Hewlett Packard Korea and Korea Telecom announced yesterday the release of HP iPAQ RW6100. The two companies held a press conference to present the new "HP iPAQ rw6100 series," which will be available in Korea in September. The new multi-function phone - which is a Windows-based PC, camera, MP3 player and phone all rolled into one ― is being released first in Korea, and if it is successful it will be distributed in other countries according to JoongAng Daily.

The LG Electronics will manufacture the HP iPAQ RW6100
"This is the world's first terminal embedded with both wireless LAN and CDMA communication features," said HP Korea's chief executive officer Choi Joon-keun. "Korean users are used to multimedia and wireless Internet environments, which was the main reason Korea was selected as the test site."

Vice President Rick Roesler, in charge of HP's handset business in the United States, said the company expects market demand for data communication and multimedia-reinforced terminals to increase steadily.

"We plan to continue introducing communication terminals that maximize our unique strengths by partnering with global communication network companies like KT," he said.
