Inside source reveals new information about the Motorola A630 and MPx100...
05/10/04 UPDATE: SlashPhone's T-Mobile source clarified that there are plans for two operating systems for the model currently designated the A630. The first release will be Motorola's proprietary operating system, with a follow-on model having the Windows Mobile OS. It will be arriving later in the product year, with a different model number but the same form factor. Also confirmed is the phone only having the regular POP/IMAP client, and will not have any additional email client from Good Technologies, etc. The Motorola A630 is a unique phone that incorporates a camera, external display, and external keypad that flips open horizontally to reveal a keyboard (in a manner very reminiscent of a Nokia Communicator). The A630 will have a built-in VGA digital camera offering resolution of 640x480 pixels. It will operate on GSM 850/900/1800/1900, with support for bluetooth, and WAP 2.0.
The MPx100 will run on Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone, and is packed with full of features such as a 1.3 megapixel camera with a bright LED assist light. Bluetooth is also there, including support for headsets. The MPx100 is one of the first smartphone to use the new miniSD memory card slot format, which will allow the user to add up to 512MB of additional storage. |
