boeboe1698 over at ipaqabilities.com claims that he experienced the H6315 in the flesh. Read on...
Here we go again more reports on the iPaq h6300.
This time... boeboe1698 wrote an interesting email to iPAQabilities " claiming" that he actually got to play with the new iPAQ h6315. boeboe1698 claims that all the specifications previously published are correct. I sure wished he had taken a picture as proof. Anyways, here is the email:
Today I visited HP for business purposes. As I talked to xxx, I asked about the iPAQ H6300. Of course this guy laughed and said to me wait a minute. He walked away and several minutes later came back with the H6315. I actually got to hold it and play with it. The H6315 is the model with the camera. It has scrolling buttons on the left which you can also use to adjust the volume.
The specs which we could see already at several websites are correct. Why the OMAP processor I asked? He said because it's a processor we used in early stages and proves to be reliable together with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth function. Also a price consideration as they wanna position the device as a consumer device. He said they wanna be sure that everything is stable. So also no Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Nope, but we are testing it. The device will come out with the older windows version and an upgrade will probably come later.
As for competition of Motorola, he said. It's a total different device. The iPAQ is pocket pc and has gsm functions. The Motorola is a phone with limited pda functions. Of course there is also the price difference which make the iPAQ H6315 a perfect device.
One thing he also told me is H6300 is the follow up of the H5500 series and that another model in the 6000 series will see the day of light at the end of the year. And asking when to expect the H6300. May in the US (T-Mobile exclusive) August AT&T and Europe also
Very sweet!
I'm officially jealous!!!
I'm a bit surprised that Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (Phone Edition) is not coming standard with the H6300. It also appears as I've posted here that the Windows Mobile 2003 SE update won't be ready until sometime this summer. So the H6300 series will probably ship with WM2003 Phone Edition when it is released by T-Mobile in May, and then have the Second Edition update available sometime this summer.
