The Defense Ministry is considering requiring senior bureaucrats and senior Self-Defense Forces officers to carry cellphones equipped with global positioning system technology so that it can immediately locate them at night and on weekends when necessary, Vice Foreign Minister Kohei Masuda said Thursday.
