Two mobile giants, Motorola and Nokia, have been developing self-power display. The idea to create solar cell phone has been out there. However, two mobile giants, Motorola and Nokia, have been developing this solution in their labs. The New Scientist Print edition reports about an exciting innovation from Motorola. According to I4U News, the company developed a LCD Display with a solar panel behind the screen. For the time being, Nokia is also working on a self-powered display and has a 200x200px screen prototype in their lab. The Motorola solution is using a polymer film-based color filters that reflects only narrow bands of red, blue and green light. "This is enough for us to see color images on the display, but the filter gives way to other wavelength to reach the solar panel," the report said. Motorola has already patented the LCD that incorporates a solar panel. No explanation when Motorola will massively produce and offer this product. |
