The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the Motorola CN620, the first phone that can operate on GSM and Wi-Fi networks. The CN620 has a flip design and is targeted towards the corporate market. It will feature messaging, web browsing and basic PIM applications. The CN620 will support transferring calls WLAN to the GSM network, but only 'PBX anchored' calls will be able to move from GSM back to WLAN.
It will feature a large color main display, an external display, eight-way navigation, speakerphone, and PTT (push-to-talk). The handset supports quad band GSM (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz) and the three major WLAN standards - 802.11a, b and g). The CN620 phone was developed by Motorola's iDEN group. No price or date of availability is set. |
