Apple spokesman Steve Dowling called the Cisco lawsuit "silly"... and some Apple iPhone news around the web

The Wall Street Journal reported, Apple spokesman Steve Dowling called the Cisco lawsuit “silly,” adding there are several companies using the term iPhone for VOIP products, and Cisco’s trademark is “tenuous at best.” “We’re the first company to ever use the iPhone name for a cellphone,” he said. “If Cisco wants to challenge us on it, we’re very confident we’ll prevail.”

For the past few weeks they did go through few discussion with Apple on the iPhone trademark, apparently Apple decide to continue to release their new phone with the name iPhone. Cisco was disappointed when Apple decided to go ahead and announce their new product with our trademarked name without reaching an agreement.

Europe mobile subscribers gonna wait for another year from now to get an iPhone from their local telco. Europe Will Be Different For The iPhone, Forbes reported that Ovum's Arber predicts Apple will have added the all-important 3G capability before launching in Europe.
