Sony Ericsson announced the availability of the highly anticipated M600i in Singapore, a fully-specified email tool and mobile phone rolled into an extremely stylish and slim device, featuring a touch screen and handwriting recognition.

M600i is the first Symbian OS 9.1 and UIQ 3.0 enabled phone from the Sony Ericsson portfolio to be available to consumers, offering users great customisation opportunities and the ability to buy personal productivity and other applications from the Sony Ericsson Application Shop. At just 15mm thick, the M600i is one of the slimmest business UMTS devices of its kind available.

To better facilitate users accessing information on the move, Sony Ericsson has collaborated with Research In Motion (RIM) to introduce BlackBerry Connect on the new M600i. With BlackBerry Connect, users of M600i will be able to take advantage of many popular "push"-based BlackBerry features, including the automatic delivery of emails and other data to and from a wireless device. BlackBerry Connect will run on the M600i’s software platform, while maintaining the device’s existing experience and functionality.

The software platform and user interface make multitasking, such as browsing the Internet whilst making a voice call, a reality. M600i also takes full advantage of its UMTS capabilities with fast and easy email handling, even with large attachments, and high bandwidth multimedia downloads. Document handling software provided include PowerPoint, Word and Excel editors and an Adobe PDF viewer.
