Entering the VGA Screen Revolution

Cell phones just don’t stop being innovated, do they? Someone always finds something to add or modify to make phones better than ever before. This time, it’s Sharp’s turn. The new 904SH phone boasts the world’s first true VGA cell phone screen! Compared to previous QVGA efforts, this screen is four times as sharp! With a resolution of 480 x 640 pixels on your cell phone screen, what else can you expect? The phone also has a few other tricks up its sleeve, making it an all around great offering.

So the screen is awesome, but what about the inevitable camera? With 3.2 megapixels, you can’t call that a disappointing feature either. The phone has a Motion Control Sensor which is said to be very useful for interactive 3D games. The 904SH also has a Face Recognition feature which is a unique protection system. It’ll recognize facial characteristics of the owner, and will probably be able to lock out those who don’t match these characteristics. Of course, Bluetooth support is also thrown in. Aside from connecting to various accessories wirelessly, the phone also has a sort of Instant Messaging program for people connected to each other through Bluetooth. The price is expected to be roughly $210; quite a bargain indeed!

For people who absolutely need the best, the 904SH should be a very nice option. In terms of screen, it has one of the, if not THE, sharpest displays out there. For a cell phone, a 3.2MP camera is fairly impressive, as is the Facial Recognition function. What really stands out for me is the price. While it may involve some sort of contract, you’re getting a phone that is record breaking in terms of resolution! The Bluetooth IM seems a bit useless.

If you’re standing close enough to someone to be connected through Bluetooth, you’d have a much better time just talking to them. The only exception is if you’re trying to cheat on a test in class; then this thing could be VERY handy (not that I would ever advocate something like that). A very nice device that proves that the age of the cell phone has only just begun.
