An issue with some HP iPAQ Pocket PC handheld devices (including HP6315) requires you to set the date before you can logon to Microsoft MSN Messenger. By default, the device displays its date of manufacture. But if for any reason your Pocket PC is hard-reset, the date will revert to the default date.
This issue occurs because the MSN Messenger service is incompatible with the MSN Messenger software on your Pocket PC. When the issue occurs, an MSN error will display onscreen and you will be unable to complete your logon. To check and/or revise the date on your HP iPAQ Pocket PC handheld device, perform the following steps:
Resolution: This Microsoft issue can be temporarily resolved by changing the default date on your HP iPAQ Pocket PC handheld device to your current date. Remember, however, that if your device is hard-reset, the date automatically returns to the default date. You must reset the date following each hard-reset. HP will update this advisory if and when a permanent solution is identified. This issue affects HP iPAQ Pocket PC handheld devices in the following series:
