Opera Mobile has been recognized as the best mobile browser for both Windows-based Pocket PC and Smartphones at the 2007 Best Software Awards by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine. Opera Mobile was nominated to compete against its sister product, Opera Mini, and ThunderHawk in the Internet browsers and Web utilities category for Windows-based Pocket PCs.

Judges of the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's 2007 Best Software Awards praised Opera Mobile for its tabbed browsing (Pocket PC), dual viewing modes, page rendering capabilities and Flash support. These features, according to one of the judges, make Opera Mobile "the best desktop-like browser for smartphones when compared to Internet Explorer."
