Microsoft released Windows CE operating system, which is used in many of the mobile devices today.

Microsoft released Windows CE operating system, which is used in many of the mobile devices today. Microsoft said that the new Windows CE 5.0 or aka "Macallan," will have better hardware support, new multimedia features and security improvements. The new Windows CE will help reduce the time it takes for OEM to deliver products to market. Vendors using this platform consist of Intel, Samsung, ViewSonic and Intermec.

The test version of Windows CE 5.0 should be available for download April 1st. Expect the final product to ship sometime this summer.
