Members at pdaphonehome has a very nice thread on connecting your PC/notebook to verizon wireless's high speed network with the Samsung i730. The instruction will guide you complete the connection via USB.

Instructions

1. Unhook the Samsung i730 from the USB connection and do not hook up the phone to the computer until prompted.
2. You have to download and install SCH-I730 MCCI driver (See #11 here in the FAQ) from samsung's web site before it will detect the drivers.
   
   The file you DL from Samsungs web site (icon looks like an egg) will display a dialog box that has a bunch of buttons with question marks on them. Click the bottom left button. This extracts the installation files to a folder. Run setup.exe.
   
   Download MCCI driver
   
3. Go to the phone app and then press: **PATH (**7284)
4. Select: As the modem through USB
5. NOW PLUG IN YOUR i730 using the usb cable. It shoud detect the modem driver now.
6. You now need to make a new Dial Up Networking connection using the following settings (if you do not know how to make a dial-up connection, please Google it. This is dependant on which Operating System you are using) :
   
   Phone number to Dial: #777
   Username entered: yourtendigitnumber@vzw3g.com
   Password entered: vzw
