According to the Sendo website , the Sendo X will be released with speech recognition software from Voice Signal Technologies. The software will permit launching of applications and dialing of contacts through simple voice commands, such as "Open Calendar" or "Dial John Smith". We expect functionality to be relatively similar to Microsoft's Voice Command software. Matt M from MTekk reports exciting news for both the Symbian and Microsoft Smartphone communities ... Speaking of which, an article at Geekzone today mentioned that a version for Windows Mobile Smartphone will be released. This will permit consistent offering across the entire PDA Phone range from Microsoft. Additionally plans for the software include:
All of which is very exciting. It looks like Smartphones - and PDA phones in general - are set to become even more advanced and usable. Now if only they'd include speech-to-text for those who want to send emails while driving ... Oh well, text to speech might have to do for now. ... or maybe you'd like a car with speech recognition? Geekzone also mentioned that Microsoft have showed their Connected Concept cars at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2004. They include features such as advanced speech recognition, PDA/mobile phone integration via Bluetooth, web services, GPS, hands-free, and remote diagnostics. It makes for interesting reading, but ...
