Trend Micro today announced Trend Micro Mobile Security version 2.0, providing enhanced antivirus and SMS anti-spam protection for data-centric wireless mobile devices such as Smartphones. Trend Micro Mobile Security 2.0 features increased device support with the addition of Symbian OS v7.0 with the Series 60 Platform (example: Nokia 6600, 7610). Pattern files can be transmitted "over the air" (OTA) using the same method as mobile phone provider software upgrades.

While mobile virus is not running wild yet, antivirus software makers already?start to test?their mobile antivirus software. Trend Micro offered their mobile security software v1.0 in December last year. The software providing antivirus and anti-spam protection for SMS messaging customers using data-centric mobile phones and PDAs. Version 1.0 is provided free to all smartphone users till June 2005.

Trend Micro Mobile Security version 2.0 with enhanced features will be released in Q3 2005 with a license fee. The newer version will support Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 and also Symbian OS.
